Master the Moment

ClinicalKey offers tools and information to help you use this resource easily and effectively via it's How to page. The page provides workflow tips and insights in the form of concise videos to help you maximise your use of ClinicalKey.

Searching ClinicalKey

Users can search for information in ClinicalKey in two different ways:

  • Basic Search - Execute a broad search to capture results from a range of subjects and topics.
  • Browse by Title - The quickest method for finding a specific eBook or eJournal by title or by subject.

Not sure exactly what you’re looking for? The search box is better for a Google-type search when you want to experiment with search terms to find the best content for your purpose. Use everyday language instead of just keywords. The results that appear are based on the search quiery entered. To find content containing a phrase, enter the phrase within double quotation marks. For example: Fistulas in octogenarians: are they beneficial. Boolean operators and wildcards aren’t supported in ClinicalKey, only phrase-searching will work.

Filter / refine your results

Your search results will be presented in the order of their relevance to your search, from most relevant to least relevant. You can filter your results based on content or study type, specialty, and publication date to get answers more immediately. You can find het filters in the left panel of the search results page.

ClinicalKey has been designed to get you to the desired results quicker. Results use colour coded buttons on the user interface to lessen the cognitive load. These pill shaped buttons appear on the search results and will take you easily to specific parts of the search results like diagnosis or summaries.

Found something interesting but need to come back to it later? You can save it it for later and customised, searchable tags will keep your content organised.

Additional instructions and screenshots on searching ClinicalKey can be found via these two guides:
